Annual Phone Throw Competition

phone throwerSecretaries, and anyone who answers the phone at work, compete in Bellevue's Annual Phone Throw Competition held at noon in downtown Bellevue, Michigan, every Secretary's Day in April.

Within an hour's lunch break, secretaries, office managers and representatives from area businesses each take turns throwing phones in three different "weight classes," which include a cell phone, multi-line corded desk phone and two tin cans tied together with string. Contestants receive awards for the farthest throw in each of these three categories, along with first, second and third place winners with the farthest accumulative distance after adding all three distances together.

With color commentary provided over loudspeaker, contestants and those just watching this yearly, crazy spectacle can enjoy snacks and laughs for free, then stay to enjoy the small town shops and restaurants afterwards.
